Low-level linux restart...

How to restart your linux OS by using the low-level kernel communication mechanisms?

Sometimes many of us have to take some steps to make our os rebooted. It is fairy easy thing when the system works OK and is responsive without any noticed delays. But what shall be done in other cases? There is some advanced mechanism which allows the user to make their os restarted in a safe-mode. To use this you need to know the SysRq key which is appropriate to your computer (usually it is the Print Screen key). By using the key you are able to send your commands directly to the os kernel. So how could it be done? Simply press the Alt and the SysRq key and still holding them type the REISUB characters. What do these magic letters mean? When taking a look at the wikipedia you are able to find a table with all the kernel commands beside which there are the following:

unRaw - take control of keyboard back from X
tErminate  - send SIGTERM to all processes, allowing them to terminate gracefully
kIll - send SIGKILL to all processes, forcing them to terminate immediately
Sync - flush data to disk
Unmount - remount all filesystems read-only
reBoot

How to memorize it? This way: Reboot Even If System Utterly Broken :)
